Position Summary
The Department Manager ? Emergency Department is responsible and accountable for coordinating the activities and providing clinical and managerial leadership and clinical skill expertise for Emergency Department. Coordinates the Emergency Preparedness (EP) activities for the organization through the Paramedic assigned as EP Coordinator. Contributes to the vision, mission, strategic plan of the organization, and is accountable for the standards of care and practice where clinical nursing is practiced. Must be clinically competent in ED nursing skills, including ED triage. Direct patient care services are performed on an as needed basis, typically 60% of the time. Possesses knowledge of CMS (HCFA) standards specific to Emergency Department within a Critical Access Hospital, New Hampshire Board of Nursing rules, professional organization standards of practice and the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of Weeks Medical Center.
BSN, BS or BA strongly preferred. MSN, MS or MBA preferred.
Previous management or supervisory experience required of at least two years.
Prior ED nursing experience of at least five years required. Clinical skills must be current.
Proficient with Microsoft Office PowerPoint.
Current registered nurse license in the State of New Hampshire.
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC and Basic Dysrhythmia certifications required.
12 Lead EKG, MOAB required within 6 months of hire.
National certification in specialty area(s) CEN required within one year of hire.
Needs Improvement = Did not maintain required certification(s) for job within 90 days of expiration
Essential Functions of the Job
1. Required skills and competencies. Has competency checklist been completed with all competencies met?
2. Demonstrates current clinical competence and excellence in clinical practice.
3. Serves as a role model for staff and also provides direct clinical and professional education to staff.
4. Actively participates with other department managers and supervisors in formulating and implementing the organization's and the clinical department's strategic plan and goals.
a. Participates in department manager and nursing leadership meetings.
b. Brings forth recommendations and concerns from staff and self on behalf of your department to these meetings.
c. Promotes and ensures open communication among staff members and departments throughout the organization.
d. Shares with supervisors and staff organizational goals, departmental goals, recommendations and decisions made by senior management and department managers.
e. Holds monthly staff meetings to communicate information learned at department managers meetings and nursing leadership meetings. Communicates new policies in draft form and when finalized. Carries feedback on draft policies back to the appropriate group or committee.
5. Accepts and satisfactorily completes miscellaneous duties as requested by the Administrative team.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
